GradNation Community Summit on March 12

If a middle school student falls behind on their attendance, gets two or more behavioral referrals, or fails course completion in either Math or English, without intervention, their chances of graduating drops to 25%.

What will it take to ensure that every one of our kids not only makes it to high school graduation but also thrives while on that path and beyond? What role can every member of our community play toward achieving that goal?

United Way of Asheville and Buncombe County and the Asheville Buncombe Middle Grades Network are proud to host the GradNation Community Summit. We ask teachers, families, nonprofits, businesses, elected officials, the faith community and concerned neighbors to join us for a morning full of powerful examples of successful strategies (national and local), inspiration and the creation of concrete next steps.

In addition to student presentations and great breakout sessions we are thrilled to welcome Keynote Speaker: Jane Quinn, Vice President Children’s Aid Society and Director of the National Center for Community Schools. Jane is the 2014 recipient of the Institute for Educational Leadership and The Coalition for Community Schools Lifetime Achievement Award.

GradNation is on March 12th, 2015 from 8:00 am through 1:00 pm at the Wilma M. Sherrill Center at UNCA.
