The Southern Conference has announced the pairings for the 2015 Men’s Basketball Tournament, presented by General Shale. The games begin March 6th and continue through March 9th.
Games will take place at the U.S. Cellular Center in Asheville, NC.
The tournament will begin when eighth-seeded UNCG faces No. 9 Samford at 6:00 p.m. The Bulldogs and Spartans split their two regular season meetings. That game will be followed by the seventh-seeded The Citadel taking on No. 10 seed Furman.
Wofford captured the No. 1 overall seed and earned a bye to Saturday’s quarterfinals as the Terriers finished the regular season with a 16-2 mark. Wofford will face the UNCG-Samford winner at noon. The second quarterfinal is between the No. 4 seeded Western Carolina Catamounts and No. 5 ETSU. The Bucs won both regular season meetings between the two teams.
Chattanooga (2), Mercer (3) and VMI (6) also earned byes into the quarterfinals. The Mocs, who finished 15-3 in league play, will play Saturday at 6:30 p.m. against either The Citadel or Furman. Mercer will face VMI at 8:30 p.m. in the final quarterfinal.
Sunday’s first semifinal is set for 6:00 p.m. with the second matchup scheduled to tip at approximately 8:30 p.m.
Friday’s opening round, Saturday’s quarterfinals and Sunday’s semifinals will be available on ESPN3. Monday’s championship game will tip off at 7:00 p.m. and can be seen on ESPN2.
