The 5K March Run Walk is scheduled for Saturday, March 7, 2015, at the Vance Monument in Downtown Asheville.
Arc Buncombe County 5K March Run Walk is a fun, healthy and easy way to support people with Intellectual and/or Developmental Disabilities. The funds raised from this event will assist families in crisis, provide children and adults with health and wellness training, and support The Arc’s programs and services.
The Arc of Buncombe County advocates for and serves children and adults with Intellectual Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities, including Down syndrome, Autism, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders, cerebral palsy and other diagnoses. The Arc of Buncombe County is a part of a network of over 700 chapters across the country promoting and protecting the human rights of people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities and actively supporting their full inclusion and participation in the community throughout their lifetimes without regard to diagnosis.
After the run and award ceremony, you’re invited to watch the Southern Conference’s Basketball Tournament’s Downtown Dribble; a parade where kids get to dribble a basketball from the Vance Monument to the U.S. Cellular Center!
Here are the logistics that should ensure that you are fully prepared and ready to get the most out of this experience:
• Friday, March 6, 2015: Pre-Registration – 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Second Gear – 444 Haywood Road, Asheville, NC 28806
• Saturday, March 7, 2015: On-site Registration & Check-in 7:30 a.m. until 8:30 a.m. – Vance Monument in Downtown Asheville
• Saturday, March 7, 2015: RACE BEGINS at 9:00 a.m.
• Saturday, March 7, 2015: Award Ceremony at 10:00 a.m.
• Saturday, March 7, 2015: The Southern Conference’s Downtown Dribble Registration starts at 10:15 a.m. – Adults are invited to stay and watch SoCon Basketball Tourney’s Downtown Dribble; a parade where KIDS get to dribble a basketball from the Vance Monument to the U.S. Cellular Center!
