Fundraising Event on May 21st to Benefit Local Children’s Nonprofit

Which country has the largest border with the United States? Who wrote the children’s classic, Charlotte’s Web? If you can answer these questions, then you just might be smarter than an elementary student.

Trivia lovers can test their general knowledge, impress their friends, and contribute to a local non-profit at the fourth annual Children First/Communities In Schools (CF/CIS) “Are You Smarter Than an Elementary Student?” fundraising event on Thursday, May 21 from 5:30 pm to 8 pm at the Cathedral of All Souls Parish Hall in Biltmore Village. Teams made up from individuals, businesses and organizations will answer questions on current events, pop culture, science, geography and more. There are fun prizes for the top winners!

The Bad Apples, from Buncombe County Schools, won the event for the third year in a row. The challenge has been raised to take this champion title away from them, as team recruitment is still open. For $250 per team and up to 6 members per team, you can claim ultimate bragging rights and win great prizes. Grab your local trivia team, your co-workers, book club members, Sunday school class and create a team. Costumes welcome! RSVP for free childcare for families of team members.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with light refreshments and local brews for a suggested donation. The game begins at 6:30 p.m. and goes until 8 p.m.

All proceeds will benefit Children First/Communities In Schools – an organization that believes all children should have the opportunity to meet their full potential, and helps children and their families meet their potential by providing services, education programming and public policy advocacy. Children First/CIS surrounds children with support in their school, neighborhood and policies.

“The Omni Grove Park Inn is proud to be the presenting sponsor for this year’s event,” says Tracey Johnston-Crum of Omni Grove Park Inn. “This is our second year participating in this event, and it is a great opportunity to share in some family-friendly fun, while supporting a local non-profit that is making a positive impact on our community.”
