Sound Effects Benefit Concert on April 9th

Sound Effects, the third annual concert to benefit Asheville Music School, is shaping up to be a terrific evening of music, camaraderie, and fun for the whole family.

The event is on Thursday, April 9, from 6 – 9 PM at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall in West Asheville.

“We hope to see all our AMS families at Isis on April 9,” says AMS Board Chair Melissa Reardon. “It will be a great time for a good cause. You’ll be supporting our mission of enriching the community through music education, scholarships and outreach, and you’ll also hear some terrific music, mingle with family and friends, and have a lot of fun.”

The concert line-up features musicians of all ages and styles, with AMS faculty and students and a special guest performance by River Guerguerian and Chris Rosser. Performers include AMS student ensemble Vinyl Crossroads led by Gabrielle Tee; AMS Rock Band  led byAlec Fehl;  Suzuki String students led by Holley Ross; and the Chamber Music Program advanced string quartet led by Frank Argento and Linda Kendall Fields.

The Faculty & Student Showcase features Nancy Simmons, Darlyne Cain, Michael Jefry Stevens, Ryan Kijanka, Justin Watt, Steve Loew, and more!

“This is our third annual Sound Effects and every year it just gets better,” says AMS Director Amy Rae Stupka. “We’re so grateful to the sponsors who have stepped up to support us, and to the many local businesses who have donated raffle items–everything from movie tickets to massages to zip line adventures. And of course we’re all looking forward to applauding the winner of the 2015 Practice-A-Thon.”

Sound Effects tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door; $6 for children under 12. Advance tickets may be purchased at isisasheville.com, or in person at Asheville Music School, 126 College Street.

Doors open at 5 PM so why not dine at Isis prior to the show? The Isis staff is planning a kid-friendly menu and have generously offered to donate a portion of dinner sales to AMS. Dinner reservations are recommended and may be made by calling Isis at 828-575-2737.
