UNC Asheville Hosts Big South Tennis Championships

The top tennis players in the Big South Conference are gathered in Asheville through April 21 as both women’s and men’s teams compete for the conference championships, hosted by UNC Asheville.

The Big South Conference Women’s Tennis Championship Tournament championship match takes place at noon on Saturday, April 18. The Bulldogs were eliminated in the quarterfinals, falling to third-seeded Winthrop 4-0. Head Coach Lise Gregory’s squad finished the year 13-8 overall, gaining the most wins for the program in five years.

The men’s tournament concludes with a noon championship match on Tuesday, April 21. The Bulldog men head into the championship tournament with a 6-3 home record this season under Head Coach Tom Hand.

All matches are open to the public and admission is free. The matches take place at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown, at the Crowne Plaza Tennis and Golf Resort, 1 Resort Drive in Asheville.
