BB King of the Blues Tribute on May 30th

Isis Music Hall will present BB King of the Blues Tribute: The Vintage Years on May 30th at 9:00 pm. Admission is $10.

Peggy Ratusz will host the event.

The idea to pay tribute to the one born Riley B. King came to Ratusz when owner of Isis, Scott Woody requested that for her final week, she move it to the big stage downstairs when at the same time the unfortunate news came that BB had passed away.

Having already planned to feature two of Mac Arnold and Plate Full O’ Blues players, guitarist Austin Brashier and harmonicist/vocalist, Max Hightower along with local string and electric bassist Zack Page, she made a couple phone calls and added Aaron Woody Wood on guitar/vocals and Tony Creasman on drums. Woody is eager to join forces with Peggy since both of them are heavily influenced by the King o the Blues.

Fortunately for all of them, Creasman, sessions drummer for icons Like Emmy Lou Harris, Willie Nelson and James Taylor, who resides in Arden is free for the evening and ready to dig in.

Narrowing down a list of King tunes spanning 70 years and 35 record releases, Peggy decided to concentrate on a varied mix of grooves and themes covering 20 songs released between the ’50s and ’70s. $10 will get you in the door for what’s sure to be a show that Blues Boy would be proud to know he inspired.

Local musicians Aaron Woody Wood, Zack Page, Austin Brasher, Max Hightower, Tony Creasman and Peggy Ratusz pay tribute to late legendary bluesman BB King on Saturday, May 30.

The show, held at Isis Restaurant & Music Hall, starts at 9 p.m. Limited tables are available with dinner reservation. Seating / Standing is otherwise available first come first serve. Call Isis at 828-575-2737 for reservations.
