Asheville Lyric Opera Presents Rigoletto at Diana Wortham

Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece Rigoletto will be on performance at Diana Wortham on Sunday, July 5th at 3:00 pm. General admission begins at $30 per person.

Asheville Lyric Opera (ALO) and the Brevard Music Center (BMC) announce a new partnership to co-produce Giuseppe Verdi’s masterful opera Rigoletto in 2015. BMC alumnus and Metropolitan Opera leading operatic baritone, Grant Youngblood, will return to western North Carolina to sing the title role of Rigoletto. The show will be led by nationally acclaimed director Dean Anthony and conductor Jerome Shannon.

Rigoletto portrays the happenings in the court of the despicable Duke of Mantua. Complexities abound when the Duke lays eyes on the daughter of his court jester, Rigoletto. With libretto by Francesco Maria Piave’s, Rigoletto was an instantaneous hit after its premiere in 1851 and features one of opera’s most loved arias, “La donna é mobile.”
