The Stump Mutts at the Grey Eagle on July 11th

The Grey Eagle will feature The Stump Mutts, Fritz Beer, and Doss Church on July 11th at 8:00 pm. Tickets cost $7 in advance and $10 on the day of the show.

Started in 2010 as an alternative rock and solo project by Asheville’s Neal Ward, The Stump Mutts released its self-titled debut album in 2011 and its sophomore album titled “1,000 Words to Hold” in early 2013.

By mid-2013, Ward’s studio project evolved into a four-piece band with friends Derek Allen (guitar), John Lindsey (bass), and Patrick Wells (drums). The fusion of their collaboration resulted in a unique sound on the Asheville scene. The Stump Mutts stand apart with their hard-driving modern rock. Their music builds upon an intense sonic energy for the listener, but manages to maintain enough restraint to calm the aural storm. Ward’s edgy vocals rest comfortably in the pocket the band creates for him.

Listenasheville.com, described the band’s sound as, “crankshaft rock that houses a fair deal of aggression, though its edges are rounded off. It’s logically structured, so the brightest light shines in the portrayal of the feeling.” The Stump Mutts’ songs evoke relatable stories of toxic relationships, love and loss, obsession, rebellion, deceit and desire.

In 2014, The Stump Mutts have performed at music venues, breweries and festivals in and around North Carolina. The band is released their third studio album, titled “We Can All Relate”, which was released on November 18, 2014.
