LAAFF Coming to Downtown Asheville on September 6th

The Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival returns to downtown Asheville on Sunday, September 6th from 11:00 am to 9:00 pm. The festival is open to all ages and is free!

The Lexington Avenue Arts and Fun Festival has always been known for highlighting the unique side of Asheville’s mountain town living and larger than life arts scene. Since its inception in 2001, LAAFF has showcased the effervescent qualities of Asheville through quirky interactive events, quality food, family activities, local hand-crafted art, and, of course, performance and music!

The 13th annual LAAFF Festival will be pollinating the urban landscape of Lexington Avenue on September 6th, 2015 with new partnerships through the medium of a community-minded festival produced by an all local-all original crew!

LAAFF has three wonderful stages where music will be playing from Noon-9pm on September 6th. The All that Jazz stage (sponsored by Lex 18 and Mosaic Realty) will have jazz music to delight the senses all day, while the Walnut Stage (sponsored by Moog) will start the day with local experimental group Plankeye Peggy followed by Camp David, Kill the Clique, Alpha Lee, The Red Coats are Coming, Debrissa and the Bear King and Nest Egg taking the final spot. Our main stage, the Electric Stage (sponsors including Valet Gourmet) includes a wonderful start with some world electrofunk from Sankofa Elektrofolk, followed by local Americana/Country music group Raising Caine. Other bands include Satta Roots, The If You Wannas, Doc Aquatic, East Coast Dirt, The Hermit Kings and Sirius B rounding out music on the main stage for 2015.

The LAAFF Festival has long been known for bringing the “weird” out of Asheville, (how many soap box derby races do you see happening in downtown?) and while it always includes programming that speaks to the importance of creativity (with over 55 confirmed art vendors for this year already) and authenticity (did we mention there will be a full on medieval castle where a foam weapon tournaments will be held?!) the festival also hopes to encourage conversations about sustainability (they require all our food vendors to utilize sustainable practices when serving their products) and community (it takes over 50 sponsors to put on this one-day event!).

LAAFF would especially like to thanks its primary sponsors: Valet Gourmet, Moog Music, JAG Construction, French Broad Food Co-op, Henco Printing, Arts2People and Lexington Avenue Merchants Association.
