New Pilot Travel Center Brings 70 Jobs to Marion

A new Pilot Flying J Travel Center recently opened in Marion. The travel center will provide full amenities to locals and travelers on Interstate 40, in addition to 70 jobs for residents of McDowell County.

“We’re thrilled that our new travel center will serve the Marion community, as well as contribute to the local economy,” says Ken Parent, the president of Pilot Flying J. “We hope local residents and those traveling through the McDowell County area and along Interstate 40 will enjoy the convenience and amenities of the new Pilot Travel Center.”

In addition to adding ten fueling positions equipped with high-speed pumps and several diesel lanes, the travel center features a Subway restaurant and convenience store amenities, including casual food and beverage options.

The facility, located on Sugar Hill Road, is Pilot Flying J’s 11th travel center location in North Carolina. it will provide an estimated 2.9 million dollars annually in state and local tax revenues. The Marion Pilot Travel Center joins a network of more than 650 Pilot Travel Plazas across North America, which Pilot Fly J says serve more that 1.3 million customers daily.
