“These are some of the songs that brought people through slavery, the Underground Railroad, and the civil rights movement,” says Becky Stone. “They still bind us together and strengthen our spirit.”

Sing Together celebrates the joy of music and singing in spirited sessions with musicians Beth and Jim Magill. All skill levels are welcome; no experience required. Take some time out to create community, make new friends and spend valuable time with your loved ones.

Storyteller Becky Stone and her husband moved to the mountains of western North Carolina in 1983. Once here, Stone began her life’s work as a storyteller. With a background in theater, elementary education, music, mime, and movement, her well-honed storytelling craft has served her for more than two decades as she has shared her calling in schools, libraries, universities, and festivals across the region, including Bele Chere, LEAF, Tell It in the Mountains, and Mountain Echoes.

Musicians Beth and Jim Magill lead the Intersections Sing Together series, which launched in 2012. Beth is a professional flute and tin whistle player and teacher. As a studio musician she has appeared on numerous recordings and NPR’s Mountain Stage. Jim is an award-winning songwriter and instrumentalist on guitar, cittern and mandolin. He is the founding Director of The Swannanoa Gathering Folk Arts Workshops at Warren Wilson College, and in 1994 was awarded the first Fellowship in Songwriting and Composition from the North Carolina Arts Council.
