City of Asheville to Host Tunnel2Towers 5K

As we near the 15th anniversary of 9/11, the City of Asheville continues to urge Americans to honor our first responders, especially those who lost their lives on that fateful day.

In keeping with that spirit, the Asheville Fire Department and City of Asheville will host a Tunnel2Towers 5K on Sept 11. Asheville is one of two cities hosting an event in which runners actually run through a tunnel.

The run will be held from 8:46 a.m. to noon Sept. 11. Find registration information on the Asheville EventBrite Tunnel2Towers page.

The Tunnel2Towers Run and Walk Series was created to honor the heroic life and death of Stephen Siller, a New York City firefighter (FDNY) who lost his life on September 11, 2001, after strapping on his gear and running through the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel to the Twin Towers.
