The Immersion

Guests will attend a traditional Irish open casket wake hosted at Lex 18 for Dr. E.W. Grove. The extraordinary Dr. Grove, creator of the Tasteless Quinine Company, which he established in Asheville, North Carolina in 1900, had many interest in Asheville, including the famous Battery Hotel, Grove Arcade and Grove Park Inn. With great sadness, his vaudevillian friends found Dr. Grove presumed dead in his room at the Battery Hotel.

Hearts filled with sadness for the passing and joy with the knowledge of this great man, Grove’s friends bring forth their stories, toasts, songs and dance, ever-increasingly dramatized with their growing tipsiness. Unbeknownst to friends gathered at hand Dr. Grove is all but dead and comic absurdities ensue with each passing toast, speech, song, dance until the not an IRISH toast is left, and then pandemonium ensues!

This uniquely designed dinner show experience is designed around the classical vaudeville melodrama with a twist of fictionalized and historical facts, setting and personages. With an integrated cast of guests, wait staff and host characters, guests can expect feel they are part of the show and immersed in the evening.
