Nurturing Children: Salsa For The Whole Family

During a recent session of YWCA’s Salsa, Sabor y Salud, families and team members got together to make pineapple salsa before visiting the WNC Farmer’s Market to explore the delicious, fresh produce in season, which included mountains of tomatoes!

Salsa, Sabor y Salud is a seven week program for Spanish speaking families to learn about eating healthy and fun ways to exercise. This bilingual program builds on Latino family values and cultural traditions.

Using child-proof knives and cutting boards, the kiddos helped to chop ingredients for the salsa. Not only did the kids love helping to make the salsa, but they really enjoyed eating it! The sweet and tangy taste of the pineapple gave this recipe a bold flavor, perfect for the whole family!
