Hickory Nut Gap Farm is hosting its One Hundred Years of Farming Celebration on Saturday, October 15th from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. One hundred years ago, Elizabeth and Jim McClure set out on a new farming adventure in the foothills of Fairview.
Shortly after, Jim founded the Farmer’s Federation, bringing together the farmers in the community to share produce, farming education, and resources. This fall, Hickory Nut Gap Farm is hosting their 100 Years of Farming Celebration, which includes a Farmer’s Federation style picnic to bring the mountain community together once more.
All are welcome to celebrate in the Big Barn on October 15th, from 5-9pm. This will be an evening of both entertainment and community building. Special events will include a music performance by the Cane Creek Mud Dogs, musical chairs, and a skit performed by third generation family members.
Admission to the event is $5, and kids under 4 are free, with chili and cornbread served separate from admission.
