Final Race To The Taps at New Belgium Brewing on Oct. 29th

It’s not only the fastest who wins the race. Sometimes it’s also the guy dressed as a Fat Tire, or the lady decked out as a Pumpkick.

Hundreds of people in brewery-inspired costumes will make a fun Halloween beer run for the Race To The Taps at 11am Saturday, Oct. 29 at New Belgium Brewing in Asheville’s River Arts District.

“This race offers two courses, a four-miler or an eight-mile route, so no matter your skill level, you can get a run or walk in our season finale,” says Nikki Mitchell of Mix 96.5, which produces the race series. “Many runners like to dress up, so the Halloween event really opens up the field for some pretty creative costumes as they compete for Queen and King of the Taps.”

There are also awards for the fastest in each category, and the Gold’s Gym Golden MOP award for the middle of the pack. Runners who have completed the entire four race series which began in April will cross the finish line at New Belgium and be congratulated with a bottle opener finish medal.

“We’re excited to help two great non-profits with a portion of the proceeds as well. Mountain True does amazing work protecting our environment, and we’re happy to again partner with Girls on the Run to further their youth leadership programs,” Mitchell adds.

The post-race party will be held on the event green in front of New Belgium’s Liquid Center with food trucks, party hits from Mix 96.5’s DJ Kipper and will kick off a full weekend of Halloween excitement at the brewery.

The Race To The Taps is presented by Paramount Kia of Asheville and Gold’s Gym, with additional support from Kick It Event Management, Fleet Feet Sports, Whole Foods, Greenlife Grocery, Alan’s Jewelry and Pawn, River Arts Dentistry, Asheville Regional Airport, Sheppard Insurance, Blue Ridge Orthodontics, Oowee Products, Cornerstone Physical Therapy, Blubus Clothing, Griffin Waste Services, and the Runners’ Mechanic.
