Ivory Keys & Golden Memories Classical Piano Concert to Benefit Healthy Aging

To benefit healthy aging and MemoryCare, MAHEC will hold a fundraiser, Ivory Keys & Golden Memories, on Saturday, June 3rd from 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm at the MAHEC Biltmore Campus.

Classically trained pianist and Asheville music teacher Parker Heck will perform some of the most beautiful and well-known pieces of the late classical and romantic period, including works by Beethoven, Debussy, Chopin, and Rachmaninoff.

“It’s a privilege to be able to support healthy aging at MAHEC and MemoryCare in this way,” says Heck. “It will be a great evening to share with all ages from an older generation who grew up with classical performances to younger people just beginning to understand classical music.”

Guests are invited to purchase tickets for an elegant evening of classical piano, champagne, and strawberries. Parker will perform on a Grotrian-Steinweg Grand Piano, and will introduce some pieces of music with historical context.

“We thought this event would be a great way to honor the older generation and benefit a great cause at the same time,” says Debbie Manley, development officer at MAHEC. “MemoryCare was a natural partner to involve as they do so much in our community for this population, and we’re excited to help support them as well.”

Proceeds from the event will go towards The Suzanne Landis Geriatric Medicine Endowment at MAHEC and MemoryCare. Dr. Landis, emeritus professor at MAHEC, devoted a lifetime career to improving primary care for the elderly, and her generous endowment supports research and education to promote healthy aging, prevention, and safe medical care for older adults. MemoryCare is the region’s center for comprehensive diagnosis and management of dementia and cognitive disorders supporting individuals and families through a multidisciplinary team approach.

Tickets for the event are $50 per adult and $25 per child under 18 years. Seats are limited for this event, and can be purchased at www.mahec.net/piano.

Ivory Keys & Golden Memories will be held at the MAHEC Biltmore Campus, 121 Hendersonville Road, Asheville NC 28803. More information about geriatric medicine at MAHEC can be found at www.mahec.net/about-us/giving-opportunities. For more information on MemoryCare, please visit www.memorycare.org.
