Down 4-0, No Problem; Tourists Win Sixth in a Row

The Asheville Tourists fell behind the Greensboro Grasshoppers 4-0 in the third inning, but the Tourists never panicked.

The Tourists reeled off ten unanswered runs to win their sixth straight overall by a final score of 10-4.

Greensboro used a four run bottom of the third inning to strike first. Asheville’s starter Antonio Santos allowed six hits in the frame including a single, double, triple, and Home Run. Santos bounced back. He tossed a pair of shutout innings in the fourth and fifth which matched his performance in the first and second frames.

In the top of the fourth, Jacob Bosiokovic hit a two-out double off Greensboro’s starter Dylan Lee. The next batter, Tyler Nevin, clubbed a moonshot Home Run over the left field wall. The blast brought life to the Tourists and made it 4-2.

In the sixth, Taylor Snyder led off with a Homer to right field that brought the Tourists even closer. Following Snyder’s Home Run, both teams went to their respective clubhouses to wait out a nasty thunderstorm. Fortunately for the Tourists, the rain stopped and the two teams were able to resume playing.

Asheville came out of the delay on a mission. The Tourists plated four additional runs in the sixth to capture a 7-4 lead. In the seventh, the visitors added three more to the mix. Over the course of the two big innings, the Tourists totaled eight runs on nine hits and stole four bases.

The relief pitching for Asheville was outstanding. Austin Moore, Salvador Justo, and Juan Pena combined to pitch four innings and faced the minimum 12 batters. Moore recorded five strikeouts in his two innings of work.
