Asheville Regional Airport Welcomes New Non-Stop Jet Service to Orlando Starting Dec. 1

The Asheville Regional Airport announced that Delta Connection will begin new daily non-stop jet air service between Asheville and Orlando, Florida. Service will begin on December 1, 2004 and will be operated by Delta Connection carrier Chautauqua Airlines using the popular 50-passenger Embraer regional jet aircraft . Tickets are now available for sale.

“We are very pleased about our partnership with Delta and being able to provide new service to the Orlando area,” said Dr. Albert B. Anderson, chairman of the Asheville Regional Airport Authority. “We look forward to working with them to promote this service and ensure its success.”

“New Delta Connection service between Asheville and Orlando will allow the customer to bypass connections and save travel time,” said Fred Buttrell, president and chief executive officer, Delta Connection, Inc.

To celebrate the new service, Delta will offer one-way sale fares as low as $99* (based on a roundtrip purchase). Additional taxes and fees apply. See below for important terms and conditions related to the fare sale.

The daily round-trip service will depart Orlando at 6:00 p.m. and arrive in Asheville at 7:40 p.m. The return flight will depart Asheville at 8:10 p.m. and arrive in Orlando at 9:50 p.m.

“We are excited to welcome new non-stop jet service between Asheville and Orlando, Florida. Florida is the second largest commercial air service market for Asheville,” said airport director David N. Edwards, Jr. “Since my appointment as airport director last November, the Airport Authority and I have targeted and worked closely to secure non-stop Florida service for this community. The announcement of new Orlando service will certainly be welcome news to the full-time and seasonal Western North Carolina residents who travel to and from Florida.”

“We think this is a win-win flight both for Floridians and for residents of Western North Carolina,” stated Kelly Miller, executive director of the Asheville Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Being able to conveniently hop on a plane to Orlando or have Floridians visit Western North Carolina via a non-stop flight provides tremendous opportunity.”

The new Orlando flights are now available for sale through www.delta.com, through travel agencies, or through Delta Air Lines Reservations at 1-800-221-1212.
