The spring session of Boot Camp for Runners, sponsored by the Asheville Track Club, starts March 1, from 5:30 – 6:30 a.m. Classes for this session meet Mondays and Wednesdays through March 24 at the Jewish Community Center, 236 Charlotte St., Asheville. Suitable for runners of all levels, training will focus on core strengthening, with instructor Dean Duncan, former UNCA track and field coach and the owner of FitAthletics. Cost is $66; members of the Asheville Track Club and the Jewish Community Center pay $56. Space is limited and preregistration is required. The mission of the Asheville Track Club is to promote and support the running communities of Western North Carolina by providing information, education, training, social and sporting events for competitive and non-competitive runners and walkers of all ages, races, genders and abilities. A variety of membership options are available: One-year membership: $5 for students; $15 for individuals; $20 for families. Three-year membership: $35 for individuals; $45 for families.
