Brevard College's Porter Center for Performing Arts will present a special Valentine Day viewing of the classic silent film “It” featuring Clara Bow, Hollywood’s “it” girl of the 1920s. This special Valentines Day event will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, February 14 and will include original, live accompaniment by guest organist Vance Reese on the College's spectacular Kirkpatrick-Coleman Pipe Organ. A hit sensation, the 1927 romantic comedy “It” takes place at Waltham's department store, where lowly salesgirl Betty Lou swoons over Cyrus Waltham Jr., the handsome playboy son of the owner. Betty has "it" in abundance, but it's an uphill battle getting Cyrus to notice. Tickets are $10 and will be on sale at 2 p.m. at the door. The Sunday silent film will cap off a weekend of events at the Porter Center and around Brevard. Violinist Jessica Lee, winner of first prize at the esteemed Concert Artists Guild International Competition in 2005, will perform at the Porter Center at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, February 12. Tickets to the performance are $25 for adults and $10 for students. For more information on tickets for either show, please contact the Porter Center Box Office at 828.884.8330. Additional information is available online at www.theportercenter.org.
