Check out the exhibition featuring the theme of "Love" with special guest artist Amber Higgins and her hand-crafted glass jewelry.The exhibition also showcases paintings and sculptures on the theme of "Love" by some local and regional artists: Linda McCane, Vadim Bora, Binna Green, Kate Stockman, Marianne Deterly, Elizabeth Nelson, and Donna Dowless. The "Jewelry Trunk Show" takes place on Saturday and Sunday, February 13 and 14 from 12:00 p.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Toronto-based guest artist Amber Higgins will unveil her newest collection featuring handmade lampwork beads & handcrafted necklaces, bracelets and earrings. A self-taught bead maker, the artist uses a variety of silver, pearl, and crystal bead chains; offsetting the stunning glass creations she makes in a variety of patterns, colors, and styles. Perfecting a variety of designs since the 1990s, Higgins often uses silver foil suspended within her glass pendants; she “draws” delicate filigree designs with molten glass and handcrafts individual beads before a stationary torch. Her designs are limitless – from neutral blacks and whites to all colors under the rainbow; from whimsical polka-dots to seductive tiger and zebra stripes, sculptural three-dimensional designs, and dichroic pieces all on silver and crystal beaded chains, hand hammered silver links, or pearls – using the finest Murano glass as her raw material.
