Annual Artisan Bread Festival at Greenlife March 29

Local artisan bakeries will showcase their products, for tasting and purchase, at Greenlife Grocery on Merrimon Avenue this Saturday. The Artisan Bread Bakers' Festival is coming to Asheville from 10AM until 6PM.

More than a dozen local, artisan bread bakers will be showcasing their bread in this unique event. You can taste local, handmade (mostly organic) bread, much of it baked in wood-fired brick ovens. In addition, there will be local bread "spreads": jelly and jam, cheese, butter, dipping oil and other condiments.

The schedule for the day is as follows:

  • 10am-2pm-- Baker's Showcase
Featuring 15 local artisan bakeries showing and selling their breads. Meet the bakers and taste their wares. With each loaf of bread you buy, receive a ticket to an afternoon event.
  • Noon-2pm & 2pm-4pm-- Peter Reinhart on Whole Grain Breads
Peter Reinhart will present new techniques for making great 100% whole grain breads. Presented at the Greenlife Community Center
