Will Grady the Groundhog See His Shadow on February 2?

Chimney Rock Parks mascot, Grady the Groundhog, will host a Groundhog Day celebration on Saturday, February 2. Grady, our regions very own Punxsutawney Phil, will make his weather prediction at 10am. If he sees his shadow, that means weve got six more weeks of winter, but if not, that means spring is just around the corner. Chimney Rock Park has a fun-filled program all about groundhogs with naturalist Carlton Burke. Burke, a guest presenter at the Park, is director of the Carolina Mountain Naturalists, wildlife and nature educators. Kids, and their parents, will learn the natural history of the groundhog, how groundhogs were used by early settlers to the area and, of course, the legend of Groundhog Day. Plus, Grady will head outside to make his weather forecast.

Folks will have the chance to meet Grady and learn about his personal history. They can get up close and personal and pet and touch the groundhog, said Burke.

Chimney Rock Park is a 1,000- natural scenic attraction located 25 miles southeast of Asheville on Highway 64/74-A in Chimney Rock, NC.
