The City of Asheville, Asheville City Council and Civic Center Commission will host a community open house to introduce Sherman Bass as the new Asheville Civic Center director. The reception will be held April 1 at 5:30 p.m. in the Civic Center Banquet Hall, 87 Haywood St. A short program to introduce Mr. Bass will begin at 6 p.m.
Bass most recently served as the executive director of the Globe-News Center for the Performing Arts after working as the assistant manager of the Amarillo Civic Center. He brings 13 years of facility management experience to the Asheville Civic Center. When City Manager Gary Jackson first announced Bass as the new director, he noted his experience with the construction and expansion of performing arts centers as well as his track record of relationship building and collaboration. “We were impressed by Sherman’s operational experience, his customer relations skills and his leadership ability,” said Jackson. “We are excited to welcome him to Asheville.” The event is open to the public, and light refreshments will be provided.
