Among many other green features, the Extreme Makeover house includes HVAC efficiency, foam insulation, energy recovery ventilator, native landscaping, solar hot water, sealed crawl space, panelized walls, low VOC paints and finishes and efficient plumbing and electrical fixtures. Additionally, three families will live in the house, living in spaces that are "adequate but not very big," according to Rob Moody, EcoBuilders’ owner. The EcoBuilders were responsible for oversight of the home’s green features, coordinated installation of electrical, plumbing and HVAC and supervised paints and finishes.
LEED certification provides independent, third-party verification that a building project is environmentally responsible, profitable and a healthy place to live.
