The Fall Celebration of Arts is a juried competition/invitational exhibit showcasing
the fine arts and crafts of this region. The competition is open to all artists, including
traditional and contemporary craftsmen living in Watauga, Avery, Mitchell, McDowell,
Yancey, Madison, Burke, Caldwell, and Buncombe Counties in North Carolina and
Washington and Carter County, Tennessee. The Toe River Arts Council coordinates this
exhibit that is shown at the Toe River Arts Council Gallery at 269 Oak Avenue in Spruce
Pine, NC. Artists enter the competition by submitting up to 3 digital images on CD of their work with a $35 entry fee – payable to TRAC. CD’s must include an image script with name of artist, title, size, and date of work and medium. Images should not be manipulated. The juror selects the pieces for the exhibit and also the determinations for cash awards. The CD deadline for new entries into the Fall Celebration of Arts is 5 pm on Friday, August 20, 2010. Accepted entries are eligible for the $1000 in cash awards. Artists who have been previously accepted into this show and who are from Yancey, Mitchell or Avery counties are invited to return to exhibit in the show (no jury required to enter). These artists may also elect at the time they drop off their work (September 27 – October 2) to be included in the determination for cash awards. A $35 fee is required to be included, otherwise no fee is charged to invitational artists. The Fall Celebration of Arts exhibit opens on October 9 and continues through November 6. The Artists Reception and Award Announcements take place on Saturday, October 9 from 5- 8 pm, with awards announced at 7 pm. The public is invited to attend all events. The Toe River Arts Council Gallery is located at 269 Oak Avenue in Spruce Pine, NC and is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm. The Fall Celebration of Arts is sponsored by the Toe River Arts Council, with support from the Grassroots Arts Program through the North Carolina Arts Council, a state agency.
