Celebrate Your Mother the Healthy Way This Mother's Day!

Flowers and chocolate definitely let your mother know that you care on Mother's Day. But why not do something more meaningful and show your mother you care about her health and want her to live a long, healthy life?

Women, especially mothers, tend to take care of everyone but themselves these days. Between carting the kids to baseball practice and ballet lessons, helping them with their homework and keeping up with all the housework, who has time to fit in healthy eating and physical activity?

This May 11, show all of the mothers in your life that you want them to eat better and exercise more. Tell them you want them to stay healthy, and not just so you have more time with them. Below are some fun activities and healthy gift ideas for Mother's Day:

  • Take a garden tour with your mom. Walk through an outdoor garden or through a historic town with restored gardens and enjoy the blooming flowers. The walk will give you both some exercise and you get to spend some quality time with your mom.
  • Sign up for a 5k walk or run with your mom. Women of all ages have learned how much fun these can be. If you live close enough, you can train together. Otherwise, you can plan a fun weekend to do the race. Prepare her your favorite healthy meal. Instead of taking Mom out to dinner, why not prepare her a delicious, healthy meal? You'll get the satisfaction of giving her a more personal gift and she will be impressed with your culinary ability!
  • Skip the sweets. Your mom is sweet enough without adding extra candy. Give her a gift that is more personal, such as a special rose bush for her garden, or a photo album of all your favorite moments together.
There are endless healthy gift ideas for your mom this Mother's Day. Be creative and let her know that her health is important to you!
