John Lennon Educational Tour Bus Returns to Asheville on Friday & Saturday

The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is coming back to Asheville on Friday May 13 and Saturday May 14. Public tours will take place on both days in the parking lot across the street from the WCQS studios on Broadway Ave. Friday's tour will take place from 6 pm to 8 pm. Tours on Saturday will take place from 10 am to noon and 4 pm to 7 pm. In addition, local musicians have been selected to record on the bus including a band comprised of local students.

The visit is made possible by Music Allies and Creative Allies in partnership with WCQS, Hatch, The Hop Ice Cream, Tingles Cafe and the Asheville Area Arts Council. The John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is a state-of-the-art mobile audio and HD studio that provides young people with tours and workshops. One local band, Double Take, featuring student musicians from Asheville Middle School, Asheville Catholic and Carolina Day will spend a day on the bus. With the assistance of three on-board engineers, the students will learn how to write, perform, record and produce original songs and produce a music video.

Music Allies heard Double Take during a performance at The Hop's Merrimon Avenue location. "We love that The Hop is giving young musicians a chance to perform says Sean O'Connell, founder of Music Allies and Creative Allies. We are excited that we can join them in encouraging creativity. In addition, Jonathan Santos, a local songwriter who emerged as shining new talent during this year's Hatch, will record a song on the bus.

The Public tours are open to the young and the young at heart. The Hop will be on hand to serve ice cream and Tingles will be giving away coupons for free sodas.
