Whatever your passion for art and music, you will find it in the heart of
historic Montford at the 2nd Annual Montford Arts and Music Festival today from 11 AM – 6 PM. Located right out on Montford
Avenue, between Cullowee and Waneta streets, festival-goers can spend a day packed with creativity and good food. This event is co-sponsored by the City of
Asheville Parks and Recreation and the Montford Neighborhood Association.
Montford’s long history is closely tied to its unique architecture and grand homes. Attendees will be able to view the eclectic architecture that enables Montford to be home to a large variety of people. Celebrate the diversity that is Montford. Mingle and chat with local artists and craftspeople as they showcase their talents that so richly portray the warmth and character that is Montford. "Be our guests and step back in time to experience the magic of Montford" says Sharon Fahrer, owner of the Montford Arts Center and long-time Montford resident. Last year's festival featured more than 40 musicians, writers, photographers, and craft artisans – the list for this year’s festival is expected to be much longer. New this year is a Children's Arts and Crafts contest, ages 6-14, with prizes to be awarded based on originality and execution. The deadline for artist's applications is April 30; children's applications, May 14. They may be brought or mailed to the Montford Arts Center, 235 Montford Avenue, Asheville, NC 28801. Please call Sharon Fahrer at the Arts Center for more details, 828-777-1014. (Image provided by the Appalachian Sustainable Agriculture Project)
