National Girls & Women in Sports Day Saturday, February 11th

This community event is designed to expose women and girls to a variety of activities that will inspire them to lead active, healthy lives. This year's event is open to women and girls (ages 6 and up) as a chance to try a new sport or fitness class, or build skills in a sport of interest.

Early registration is $12 per person (until 1/7), then $15 per person (until 1/29). Registration includes four clinics, t-shirt and goody bag, healthy lunch, door prizes, and a ticket to the Women's Big South Tournament at UNC-Asheville that day.

Event highlights include:

  • Sports clinics run by qualified, professional college coaches and athletes (tennis, running, gymnastics, zumba, swimming, golf, and soccer, to name a few.)
  • Drawings for door prizes
  • Chance to meet local female athletes and get autographs
This event is sponsored by Asheville Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Arts Department in collaboration with UNC Asheville, Buncombe County Parks and Recreation, Girls on the Run of WNC, Girl Scouts Peaks to Piedmont, YMCA, Asheville Ultimate Club, Disc Golf Association, and the YWCA.

Pre-registration is highly recommended as they do run out of space and t-shirts. For more information or to register, contact Allison at the Stephens-Lee Recreation Center at 350-2058 or adains@ashevillenc.gov. Snow date is March 24th.
