Buncombe County Schools has five Odyssey of the Mind teams preparing to compete at the World OM Finals next month.
Teams representing the following schools will travel to College Park, Maryland, on May 31, to participate in the international tournament: T.C. Roberson High, Enka High, Valley Springs Middle, Estes Elementary and Pisgah Elementary. Teams qualified for the world finals by finishing first or second in state Odyssey of the Mind competitions. Odyssey of the Mind is an international educational program that provides creative problem-solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Students apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They work in teams so they learn cooperation and respect for the ideas of others. They evaluate ideas and make decisions on their own, gaining greater self-confidence and increased self-esteem along the way. (Images provided by Odyssey of the Mind.)
