Southern Waterways, the only commercial rafting company in the urban French Broad River, has donated 50 free float trips to RiverLink for anyone who makes or made a donation to RiverLink from July 1, 2007 to June 30, 2008. Southern Waterways is offering this to encourage broad based participation in RiverLink's annual fund drive. Southern Waterways owner, David Donnell, said "this s a great way for folk to discover the river and support RiverLink at the same time. RiverLink is the only non-profit whose mission is exclusively focused on the river as a destination for working, living and playing."
The first drawing for 10 float trips will be held at RiverLink's annual volunteer appreciation dinner in late April, which will be held at Southern Waterways. Subsequent drawings will be held every month until June 30th - the end of RiverLink's fiscal year and annual fund drive. Patsy Keever, chair of the annual fund drive said, "I am proud to be helping RiverLink raise money for its annual fund. This organization works hard and is very efficient, eighty five cents of every dollar raised is used for projects, and only fifteen cents is used for all the overhead and administrative costs of the organization. In these uncertain financial times RiverLink is the best investment anyone can make. They are leveraging our communities' donations four to one with grant funds and making great strides in the French Broad River watershed". Everyone is welcomed to participate by sending a donation to RiverLink, P.O. Box 15488, Asheville, NC 28813 or by donating at our secure site on line at www.riverlink.org. Donor names are entered into a drawing and donors could win a canoe, kayak or paddle on the French Broad River, some dates and other exclusions apply for the trips.
