Hendersonville’s Street Dances Back for Summer of 2004 Through September 6

Eighty-six years ago, as America welcomed home her troops returning from World War I, Hendersonville introduced what would be the first of many summers of Monday evening Street Dances. Since 1918, the tradition has continued each year under the summer stars. This year’s Street Dance series, scheduled through September 6, will carry on the tradition for a new generation of dancers.

The dances are held on Main Street between Fourth and Fifth avenues on Monday nights, with a new time schedule this summer, from 7 – 9 PM. Bill McEntire will celebrate his 55th year as caller, and Jimmy Vaughn and W. C. Cracker, along with various clogging or square dance groups, will provide the musical entertainment.

Hendersonville's Street Dances are true mountain entertainment that reflects the flavor of our mountain heritage with blue grass and country music, square dancing, and clogging.

The dance team schedule includes:

  • The WNC Cloggers (July 5)
  • Southern Lights (July 12)
  • Good Old Girls (July 19)
  • Green Valley Cloggers (July 26)
  • Southern Lights (August 2)
  • UNCA Senior Smooth Team (August 9)
  • Forever Young (August 16)
  • Green Valley Cloggers (August 23)
  • Torach Sisters (August 30)
  • WNC Cloggers (September 6)
