 The Asheville Tourists are hosting their own version of American Idol. Tryouts for potential singers of The Star-Spangled Banner at the team’s baseball games this season will be held on Saturday, March 29, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at McCormick Field. The Tourists will also hold auditions for potential members of the 2008 Energy Team, including an on-field host for the team’s various in-game promotions.
Following a successful performance in front of the Tourists’ panel of judges, those making the cut will be able to select dates for the 2008 baseball season in which to sing the National Anthem. The Tourists open the 2008 regular season at McCormick Field on Thursday, April 3, at 7:05 p.m. when they host the Lexington Legends. The team will also hold a Fan Fest and an exhibition game against UNC Asheville on Monday, March 31.
