YWCA Child Care Center Receives 5-Star Rating

The YWCA Child Care Center has achieved a five-star rating from the North Carolina Division of Child Development. This rating is based on the level of education the staff brings to the program and on the quality of the programming itself. A five-star rating is the highest possible rating given by the State. The YWCA Child Care Center serves 50 children and focuses on diversity education, non-violent play, and excels at teaching social and developmental skills. The Child Care Center embodies the YWCA’s mission, which is eliminating racism and empowering women.

The YWCA Child Care Center brings the mission of the YWCA - the eliminating racism and empowering women - to our youngest members.

Children learn to appreciate other cultures, learn basic academics in the everyday world, and enjoy non-violent play. Individual portfolios for each child show that the youngest are reaching the early developmental benchmarks, and the oldest are ready for Kindergarten. Parental involvement in the Center is highly encouraged. Foster Grandparents are also very active in the Center.

The multi-cultural Center has space for 50 children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. It is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 am - 6:00 pm. Two meals and a snack are provided daily. Swimming lessons and field trips are also offered.
