YWCA to Offer Lifeguard Training May 16 - 18

The YWCA of Asheville will offer an intensive American Red Cross Lifeguard Training May 16, 17, and 18. The hours will be 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm May 16, and 8:00 am – 8:00 pm May 17 and 18. The class will meet at the YWCA, 185 S. French Broad Avenue. The course includes lifeguarding skills, First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer, and more. Participants must be at least 15 years old and pass a pre-test. The cost is $175, and includes all books and materials. For more information, call Jean Coile at 254-7206 x 110.

The YWCA has a comprehensive Aquatics program. The YWCA pool is 75 x 25 feet. The average temperature is 86-88 degrees Fahrenheit. The YWCA offers Red Cross Certified swimming instruction for all ages and levels.

Please visit the YWCA Homepage for a description of all classes. All YWCA swim instructors are certified by the American Red Cross. Classes meet once a week. Please remember that it takes several sets of lessons to move up a level. It takes time to develop coordination and stamina. Classes must have at least five students registered. We cancel classes that do not meet this registration quota. For safety reasons, each class also has an upper limit. The YWCA cannot allow students to make up missed classes.
