Jan 29 @ 12:30 am – 2:30 am
Peace Center

Part of the 2019 – 2020 Broadway Season. Learn more about subscribing: http://bit.ly/2J6KMcs.

From Lincoln Center Theater that brought you The King & I and South Pacific, comes “a sumptuous new production of the most perfect musical of all time” (Entertainment Weekly), Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady. Director Bartlett Sher’s glowing production is “thrilling, glorious and better than it ever was” (The New York Times). “Every so often a revival comes along that reminds you how indispensable great theater can be” (NY1).

Boasting such classic songs as “I Could Have Danced All Night,” “The Rain in Spain,” “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly,” and “On the Street Where You Live,” My Fair Lady tells the story of Eliza Doolittle, a young Cockney flower seller, and Henry Higgins, a linguistics professor who is determined to transform her into his idea of a “proper lady.” But who is really being transformed?

On top of the Kickoff party, Halftime party (middle of the crawl) and a HUGE After party, we ensure that venues are fully prepared by staffing properly and having entertainment (i.e. dj’s, performers etc..) provided. We partner with the top 5+ bars/clubs in each city and proudly represent 7+ LIVE Crawl Themes. All themes link: FB.com/pg/BarCrawlLive/events/

Ensemble 4.1
Feb 4 @ 12:00 am – 2:00 am
Peace Center

Ensemble 4.1 is a “piano windtet” brought to life by four wind soloists from top German orchestras and one unmistakable pianist. Their exceptional communicative power and intoxicating on-stage presence are repeatedly praised by critics and have become the hallmark of Ensemble 4.1.

In addition to the original masterworks for this instrumentation by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Ludwig van Beethoven, the ensemble is devoted to discovering rarely played compositions from the Romantic and Modern periods. After many years of silence, composers like Walther Gieseking, Theodor Verhey, Herrmann Zilcher, and Arne Oldberg are again being performed for an enthusiastic public.

Since its inception in 2013, Ensemble 4.1 has crisscrossed the globe and performed recitals in China, Pakistan, Austria, Germany, Algeria, Canada, and the United States.

“Unassailable musicianship” – The Washington Post

“A superb blend of sound, technique, and musicianship.” – The Virginia Gazette

“Thrilling rarities” – Schwäbischen Zeitung

Aquila Theatre in George Orwell’s 1984
Feb 5 @ 12:00 am – 2:00 am
Peace Center

In the throes of unprecedented challenges to privacy, truth, and personal expression, AQUILA THEATRE brings 1984, George Orwell’s cautionary novel, to the stage.

As our modern world grapples with the threats and benefits of technological integration, AQUILA THEATRE’s production of 1984 provides a space to appreciate the value of individual thought – an evocative and timely narrative of personal freedom against political repression. Today, Orwell’s prescient story resonates around the globe as individuals, systems, and governments clash.

Written in 1944 near the end of World War II, 1984 depicts a society controlled by a perfectly totalitarian government bent on repressing all subversive tendencies. “Big Brother” is always watching and technology is wielded as a weapon to inundate citizens with propaganda and to monitor thoughts and actions. Imagined before the existence of computers, this dystopian future explores the power of technology as a mental manipulator and source of curated information.

The resurgence of 1984 marks a widespread desire to understand the present moment by looking back… How far are we from realizing Orwell’s nightmare? Are we already there? Can there be more than one truth, more than one set of facts?

Third Coast Percussion

Peace Center

Third Coast Percussion is a Grammy®-winning quartet of classically-trained percussionists hailing from the great city of Chicago. For over 10 years, the ensemble has forged a unique path with energetic performances that celebrate the extraordinary depth and breadth of musical possibilities in the world of percussion.

The ensemble has been praised for “commandingly elegant” (The New York Times) performances, the “rare power” (The Washington Post) of their recordings, and “an inspirational sense of fun and curiosity” (Minnesota Star-Tribune). The four members of Third Coast are also accomplished teachers, and since 2013, have served as ensemble-in-residence at the University of Notre Dame’s DeBartolo Performing Arts Center.

Third Coast Percussion has commissioned and premiered new works by Philip Glass, Devonté Hynes, Donnacha Dennehy, Glenn Kotche, Lei Liang, Gavin Bryars, Christopher Cerrone, Marcos Balter, and today’s leading up-and-coming composers through their Emerging Composers Partnership Program.
