Appalachian Wildlife Refuge

Interns are vital to providing care for the animals and coordination of volunteers in the Wildlife Urgent Care facility during the busy seasons which run March – September. Interns help in all aspects of the rehabilitation process, from answering phone calls and emails about wildlife, to the daily care of the animals and their holding areas to assisting with rescue and transport, as well as releasing healed animals back into the wild. Each day is different and interns must be dedicated, dependable, flexible and comfortable coordinating other volunteers while also handling communications with the public. Interns must commit to at least four shifts a week and at least a six week period and ideally up to three months. The facility will be open with days and hours based on staffing and intern availability.
