Buncombe County Students Get Tips on Landing Jobs

High school students from five area counties received training in business etiquette, making a great first impression, interviewing tips and other essential workplace skills at the annual Student Leadership Academy event at Biltmore in late February.

The event was organized by the Asheville-Buncombe-Madison Career Pathways consortium, Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College and Blue Ridge Community College in conjunction with Biltmore. More than 100 students were selected to attend from over 20 local high schools across a five-county area in western North Carolina.

Students participated in a series of interactive workshops morning led by representatives from Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College, , and Biltmore. Workshop topics included how to make the best first impression and ace an interview, professionalism, and tips on etiquette in the workplace.

Biltmore personnel were also on hand to provide information about career opportunities through a mini Career Fair, as well as share details about the company’s internship and apprenticeship programs.
