Five Historic Sites Open This Weekend

The Preservation Society of Asheville & Buncombe County is pleased to offer a tour of five unique historic homes this weekend for the 2017 National Arts & Crafts Conference Tour.

All homes are located in Dr. E. W. Groves residential park nestled at the base of beautiful Sunset Mountain. Included in this year’s tour is the historic E W Grove Real Estate Office designed by Richard Sharp Smith, the Vernon Westall house designed by Charles Parker, and the recently rehabilitated Patton Parker House, 1868, among others.

The tour will include trolley guides who will point out key buildings and houses in Asheville’s architectural history, as well as docents to answer questions in the homes to be toured. Participants should wear soft-soled comfortable shoes and be able to walk several neighborhood blocks and negotiate stairs & public walkways.
