Pancake Breakfast Benefit on Apr. 22nd

The Asheville community along with the Oakley Elementary PTO would like to honor the lives of Alexander Bautista Gomez and Milena Maria Alejandro Gomez by commissioning and installing a beautiful, handmade bench on the Oakley Elementary playground.

Alex and Milena both died in a tragic accident while crossing Fairview Road in December 2016. Before the accident, they could be found playing on the playground at Oakley Elementary most days after school where they made a lot of friends over the years. We would like to remember them with a thoughtfully made, beautiful piece of art to reflect the impact they have had on so many of us.

The funds raised from a pancake breakfast on Saturday, April 22nd, at Fellowship Asheville on Fairview Road will pay for this memorial. The breakfast is scheduled for 8:00 am until 10:00 am and costs $5 per person. The goal is $1500. Local artists Chuck Young and Andy Cooper have come up with a beautiful design, and it will be built in May, to be installed in June.
