Terpsicorps Presents Together We Soar This Weekend

Terpsicorps’ 15th Season, in collaboration with local divas Leeda Jones of Lyric and Stephanie Morgan, formerly of stephaniesid, brings you three spectacular evenings of dance, live music and inspiration.

The unconventional professional ballet company that delights Asheville with vivid cutting-edge dance is known for works that embrace the struggle, depth and beauty of the human experience.

Choreographer Heather Maloy, like so many of us out there today, sees the need to build bridges within our increasingly divided society.  Moments of shared experience that create hope for the future and foster a feeling of unity are rare and monumentally important.  Together We Soar is being created as a testament to the power of women and will focus on what we think of as feminine attributes. Love, compassion, inclusivity, determination; these qualities will be brought to life through the music and artistic abilities of the performers.

These voices will accompany the most technically astounding cast of dancers Terpsicorps has gathered to date:

Kara Zimmerman – Joffrey Ballet, Chicago & Victor Ullate Ballet, Madrid, Spain
Augusto Cezar – Nashville Ballet
Elena Bello – Richmond Ballet
Jeff Ewing – Lucky Plush Productions, Chicago
Ashley Wegmann – Atlanta Ballet
Trevor Davis – Richmond Ballet
Ana Gallardo – West Australian Ballet
Gavin Stewart – Company E, Washington, DC

Also included on the program are four short works that highlight some of the finest moments of the past 14 seasons.

Heather Maloy’s Run Ragged, a humorous look at a woman’s struggle to persevere in a business environment populated by men.

Salvatore Aiello’s The Waiting Room, a touching look at three women and the relationships they form as they wait in a doctor’s office for potentially life changing test results.

Heather Maloy’s Calm, a pas de deux created at the National Choreographer’s Initiative as a birthday gift for her husband.  The piece depicts the sense of peace that comes from being loved for who you are.

Salvatore Aiello’s Senza Fretta, a light hearted and virtuosic duet for two men that highlights the immense technical prowess of the company’s male dancers.
