UNC Asheville’s Concerts on the Quad Concludes July 17th

UNC Asheville’s Concerts on the Quad concludes this year on Monday, July 17th with the rock trio Southern Culture on the Skids.

The final free concert takes place July 17, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. on the UNC Asheville Quad. Attendees are invited to bring chairs, blankets and picnics to enjoy along with the music. Meals, treats and drinks will be available from concession stands on the Quad.

Southern Culture on the Skids is a trio of Rick Miller (guitar and vocals), Dave Hartman (drums) and Mary Huff (bass and vocals) formed in Chapel Hill in the early 1980s. They specialize in what they call “a greasy mix of surf, rockabilly, R&B and country-fried garage with a side of psych.” The Electric Pinecones, their latest album and fifth on their own Kudzu Records label, was released last fall and they will arrive on the Quad fresh from a World Café Live appearance in Philadelphia, and shows in Washington, D.C., Pittsburgh, Brooklyn, Milwaukee and Chicago.
