Fresh at Farmers Markets This Week

The new year is upon us and a whole year of delicious local food is ahead! Start the year off right at Asheville-area indoor winter farmers markets.

What can you expect to find this week? Roots and storage crops such as potatoes, sweet potatoes, beets, carrots, kohlrabi, winter squash, cabbage, apples, and turnips. Also find greenhouse and tunnel grown crops such as dark leafy greens, salad mixes, lettuces, and radishes. And don’t forget meats, eggs, breads, cheeses, baked goods, prepared foods, crafts, and more!

Asheville City Market is now open for the winter at their indoor location, the Asheville Masonic Temple, in downtown Asheville, Saturday mornings 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

The YMCA is also hosting a South market for the second year, which will be held Wednesdays 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm in the YMCA in the lobby of the Reuter Family YMCA in Biltmore Park, starting January 17th.
