As the City of Asheville embarks on a mission to hire a new City Manager, City Council wants to ask you — Asheville residents — what qualities you think are important for the next person in this role.
City staff held two May 10th discussion sessions at the Skyland Fire Department in South Asheville. Another session was held on Saturday, May 19th, at the City’s Public Works Building, 161 S. Charlotte St., Room A109.

In an effort to include more residents in this community conversation, a fourth session has now been added. This will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. May 24th at the Grant Southside Center, 285 Livingston St. As with the other meetings, child care will be provided for children age 5 and above. Interpretive services will also be available.
These are open-ended discussions, asking residents what qualities and qualifications they think would be important for Asheville’s next City Manager.
Qualities identified by the community will help form the profile for the ideal candidate. This profile will be used in the nationwide recruitment effort. The profile is one of the most important pieces in finding the candidate best fit for Asheville. The profile determines the pool of candidates from which City Council will choose.
