Get your koozies and selfie sticks ready, the first annual Mini-Vegfest is kicking off in Flat Rock on Sunday, June 3rd.

The Sunday Funday festivities will feature an array of activities and exciting stuff for all ages, from live music to craft beers by Sanctuary Brewing Company to delicious vegan food for sale – not to mention the company of adorable rescued animals.

Vendors will include Campfire Bakery; The Hop Ice Creamery; Fat Rabbit Catering; Garlik Vegan café; Sharewell Coffee, Kristen’s Kreations, and many more. There’ll also be a lineup of speakers including chef Stepfanie Romine, author Michelle Neff, and lifestyle coach Laura Beck, all talking about compelling topics related to plant-based living. There will be a raffle drawing for a whole host of goodies and prize packages from local businesses and vendors. Music by Tessia Noel and Trio de Janeiro will round out the event.

The event is a joint effort between Sweet Bear Rescue Farm and Asheville Vegan Society (AVS). This is the first edition of the fest, and all proceeds will benefit Sweet Bear (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit founded by SBC owners Lisa McDonald and Joe Dinan) as well as AVS.

“We’re so thrilled to host this Mini-Vegfest ahead of AVS’ annual festival in September,” says AVS president Ann Green. “It’s going to be a huge party, and all to show people that a cruelty-free lifestyle is delicious, fun, and easy!”

Tickets are $25 per person, $50 per person for VIP status. All attendees over the age of 21 will receive one free SBC beer and one raffle ticket with admission. VIP guests will receive a private tour of the rescue farm, two raffle entries, a beer ticket, yoga, and early admission (12 p.m.).

“This event is going to be amazing!” says McDonald. “I can’t wait for everyone to experience fantastic vegan food and Sanctuary Brewing Company beer, listen to live music, and get to know Sweet Bear’s residents.”

Sweet Bear is home to Twenty animals including best friends Ollie the pot-bellied pig and Charlotte the chicken; turkeys Paul and George; goats Maggie and Shadow; Oskar the cat; dogs Harry and TT; and numerous other furry/feathered inhabitants.
