Weaverville’s Music on Main on June 23rd

Warning: Information you find on this page may be outdated or incorrect.

The Weaverville Business Association is hosting the second annual Music on Main, a one-night, open-air concert on Main Street in Weaverville, featuring Kat Wright, Jesse Barry, and Lyric.

The event takes place in front of Town Hall (30 South Main Street, Weaverville, NC 28787) from 4:00 pm to 9:00 pm Saturday, June 23, 2018. The event is free and open to the public.

Vermont-based Kat Wright has been described as “a young Bonnie Raitt meets Amy Winehouse.” Add to that voice enough stage presence to tame lions, and the combination of feline femininity proves immediately enchanting. Some of soul music’s sweet, grand dames belt, shout, seethe, and succumb, while Wright sings gently like a heartache’s apology. It’s funky in spots and beautiful all over, thanks to the backing provided by her Indomitable Soul Band. And it hurts a little… like it should.

Asheville’s Jesse Barry & The Jam takes old school blues and popular funky party songs and puts their own spice into them. with the audience is of utmost importance to the band, and every show has an electric energy — Jesse Barry & The Jam will leave you dancing and singing all the way home! Also hailing from Asheville, Leeda “Lyric” Jones is a singer-songwriter, musician, and music teacher. She draws inspiration from India Arie, Tracy Chapman, and Lauryn Hill, gracefully intertwining soul, R&B, funk, and even a little hip-hop.

The event will include food, drink, kids’ activities and booths. Kids’ activities will include LEAF’s Easel Rider mobile art bus, bubbles, face painting, putt-putting and more! Local restaurants will be open all along Main Street. Traffic will be stopped between Merrimon Avenue and Brown Street. Parking is free at Weaverville Primary School.
