Everyday across America we use the internet for news, education, work, entertainment, and more. Access to high-speed internet service can be a great equalizer to opportunity. When access to the internet is available, a world of resources can open up.
Did you know that less than two-thirds of rural Americans have the chance to use high-speed internet? In some local communities like Sandy Mush, residents have to travel to a community center or library to access broadband internet. As part of an effort to increase broadband availability, WestNGN is asking folks in the Land of Sky Region to tell them about their internet service. Residents and businesses across Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, and Transylvania Counties are invited to scan the QR code below, take the WestNGN survey online, and share it with others.
High-speed internet service is now considered a necessary component of infrastructure for residential, business, healthcare, and educational users. Without direct and focused investment in broadband infrastructure, our region is at risk of slipping behind the technological advancement of the rest of North Carolina. Land of Sky Regional Council has teamed up with WestNGN Broadband to tackle this issue.
